"He who works with his hands is a labourer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist"

- Francis of Assisi

I like to try and get the best out of students, by giving them the confidence to try new ways of drawing, seeing and looking. I do this with encouragement and praise with occasional constructive criticism when needed.

To a degree I like to let the student lead the way, by observing which direction their skills seem to be taking them, and encouraging them in those endeavours.

I teach drawing and painting techniques including watercolours, acrylics, oils, gouache, perspective, pen and ink and so on. But essentially I like students to try various mediums until they find their forte and release their inner Picasso!

Obviously this involves a lot of fun whilst learning and of course some perseverance is needed too.

Once this has been found I help you create the art you want, the images you want to create; working from your own photographs of landscapes or objects and scenes that inspire you.

Any level of skill is welcome, whether a complete beginner or an experienced artist seeking new inspiration or new skills.

I generally don't teach anyone younger than 12 - 13.
